Latest News About Writers Who Are Doing Better Than We Are
by munchman

  • Louis C.K. & Zach Galifianakis & Jonathan Krisel (You know who the first two are. Jonathan  is an Emmy nominee who’s worked on PORTLANDIA, SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, etc.) have written the pilot for BASKETS, an FX comedy about a guy doing whatever it takes to achieve his dream – becoming a bonafide clown. (Jeeze, and I thought that all the clowns I know just got that way naturally!)
  • Bill Wrubel (MODERN FAMILY) is writing the pilot for CBS’s THE GOOD LIFE, a comedy about a guy dealing with a huge problem: He’s happy. (Oh great. Another series hero yer friendly neighborhood munchkins can’t relate to. Damn me for being such an alien.)
  • Jason Richman (DETROIT 1-8-7) is adapting Adrian Barnes‘ book NOD into a Fox  drama series about “a world without sleep.” (What? There’s something wrong with that? But look at how productive we’ll all be if can devote 24/7 to, um, you know, whatever it is we devote all our time to. This sounds genuinely interesting to me, and not only because I was one of the handful of people who devoutly watched Jason’s previous show.)
  • Steve Franks (PSYCH) is developing DeTour, a “coming of age story” based on the life of Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo into a series for Fox. (Cuz rockers lives are sooo interesting as they develop from a bunch of peeps struggling from motel to motel in old beat-up VW vans to a bunch of peeps jetting from hotel to hotel in private jets. My Big Concern: Are we gonna have to listen to Weezer’s, um, “tunes?” Yikes!)

That’s it for now. Write in and tell munchilito what you’ve sold today. TVWriter™ can’t wait to brag to all your friends. (And, more importantly, enemies. Hehehe….)
