Latest News About Writers Who Are Doing Better Than We Are
by munchman

  • Charles Wilson‘s Hugo-winning science fiction novel, Spin, has been bought by Universal Cable Prods for development as an “event” series. (And, yeppers, boys and girls, I’d be thrilled to know what an event series really is, so if you have a clue let me know what it is.)
  • Lindsay Stoddart (an actress but el muncho forgives her) is writing SALEM ROGERS: Model of the Year 1998 as an Amazon pilot. (It’s about a bitch supermodel who’s first into rehab, which on its face is no more ridiculous than any recent network or cable pilot. But then again, Yer Friendly Neighborhood Munchman isn’t seeing that it’s any less ridiculous either.)
  • Robin Schiff (ARE YOU THERE, CHELSEA?) is also writing an Amazon pilot. This one’s called DOWN DOG and is about crazyass folks working at a yoga studio. (Not exactly my kinda show, but, hey, they can’t all be THE WALKING DEAD, can they? Altho, come to think of it, idiot execs have been working their butts off to duplicate DEAD for years…and failing of course.)
  • Lawrence Wright, Pulitzer Prize winning author of The Looming Tower: Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11, is writing GOD SAVE TEXAS, an HBO drama pilot about an idealistic cowboy who is elected to the Texas State Legislature and has to learn how to survive the state’s brutal politics. (Now that’s something a munchman can sink his teeth into!)
